The Royal Scientific Society launches the solar pilot project of FOSTEr in MED project in Aqaba, Jordan

-26/6/2016 Today, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Musa S. AL Lozi President of The University if Jordan Aqaba Branch,  a 17 kWp Building Integrated Photovoltaic system (BIPV) is inaugurated at the University of Jordan in Aqaba, with the support of European Union within the ENPI CBC MED Programme, through FOSTEr in MED project, that is one of its kind in Jordan.

The pilot consist in the integration of photovoltaic modules on the 3 skylights of the building, contributing with 34MWh/yearof green energy production. BIPV refers to PhotoVoltaic modules designed to substitute common building elements, considering both energy production and architectural and aesthetic functions, such as skylights.

FOSTEr in MED, funded with 4.5 million Euro the ENPI CBC MED Programme, is coming to its conclusion stage after about three years of extensive work, specifically awareness campains dedicated to citizens, students and policy makers and competence transfer about innovative photovoltaic technology dedicated to designers and installers (SMEs).
