The Royal Science Society (RSS) is keen on promoting solar energy technology among the local community of the governorate of El Aqaba. An awareness raising workshop has been held today, in which frame the RSS team working in the FOSTEr in MED (Solar Energy Technology Project in the Mediterranean) has visited a collective of women’s committees.

FOSTEr in MED project: a survey to enquire about citizens perception and knowledge on solar technologies in Mediterranean countries

On June 2014 the pollsters of FOSTEr in MED project started a survey to analyse the perception of citizens toward photovoltaic technologies in the main cities involved in the project: Cagliari (Sardinia); Barcelona (Spain); Beirut (Lebanon); Alexandria (Egypt); Aqaba (Jordan); Tunis (Tunisia).
Many factors limit the diffusion of solar energy technologies, among them the perception and the knowledge of citizens concerning the benefits and implementation procedures.

FOSTEr in MED at the Beirut Energy Forum

September 2014 – In the framework of Beirut Energy Forum, Mr. Naji Abi Zeid, the manager in Lebanonof the EU funded project FOSTEr in MED spoke about the 4.5 million euro solar project involving the implementation of a pilot photovoltaic project.
During his intervention, Mr. Abi Zeid mentioned that FOSTEr in MED’s team is working on equipping the Industrial Research Institute of Lebanon with Building_Integrated Photovoltaic panels with a capacity that can go up to 20 Kw/peak.
